SPRUCE

Mixed media painting by Lennart Pihl. Recycled PVC advertisement framed with aluminum profile. Created using various spray, latex and acrylic paints, as well as some montage glue and printer ink.

The image depicts a lone mighty spruce tree in the rain. The tree has given it’s lower branches to small fauna as food, effectively becoming an umbrella, a safe haven for passers-by. This symbolizes how even the most harmonious environments change us and sometimes in painful ways. Going through a metamorphosis such as the tree loosing it’s branches conforms us into new and unexpected roles.

The painting “SPRUCE” is part of a three piece series with “OAK” and “PINE”. It has been to one exhibition.
